History Of Seaport Village

People constructed the complex over the Punta de Los Muertos on reclaimed land. It is prominent in the term the Point of the Dead. 

The complex is where a Spanish expedition from 1782 interred the bodies of those who had died from scurvy. Additionally, the area was helpful to people as a railroad yard. It was a hub for transporting supplies and goods headed for San Diego. 

In 1978, pioneering developer Morris Taubman laid the foundation for the village on property owned by the San Diego Port. The authority granted people access to the complex two years later.
